Jake Wirth - A Traditional Landscape Painting - Fall/Transitions

I want to paint a traditional fall landscape using colorful trees like the one in the top picture,
but I also am attracted to the shoreline in the picture below.
So, I'll do my best to compose my painting using both of these pictures.

  1. I would recommend doing a lake maybe instead of a beach, just because it might fit better. But I like the traditional landscape idea, do what you feel is best!

  2. The first picture is very pretty and I think that if you used alkyd paints, which are like oils, it would add some cool texture to the leaves of the trees. And i agree with kurt about the lake!

  3. I also gree with the idea of the lake but In my opinion the first picture looks better and fits in fall theme. If instead of the green grass in the picture you make the lake I think it would look great that way you can use both pictures.

  4. Both photos are so pretty. They look like great references to work off of! Are you going to transition the first picture into the other (or vice versa from summer to fall?)Just a suggestion on how to use the theme.

  5. I love this idea! The trees are beautiful and I agree with the others it might be best to do a lake. The trees have some beautiful color in them that would be cool to reflect in the water.
