My idea is to create a big maple leaf that will be the hill in which an abstract, swirly tree stands. The veins of the leaf will turn into the roots of the tree and the colors I am going to use are the warm, fall colors that "transition" into one another. So the second picture above is going to be on top of the first.
I like the fall idea, because it's the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of transitions. I think painting it with acrylics would be better for getting a more natural texture and look, but I'm not very good a ceramics, so you should definitely do what you think will look best!! Good work!
Great concept! I love the way the branches look and how you put the fall leaf as the base. The colors are going to look really awesome, and of course, really embody fall. Depending on the way you want it to look, do you plan to use under glaze and/or blend the colors together? Just a suggestion I think could look cool.
I like the idea you had about making the base a leaf with the tree on the top. I took ceramics an freshman year andi kind of have an idea of how its going to be , I'm sure it would come awesome specially if you are good at it. I think it would look nice if you blend the olor togheter.
There's definitely the concept there but the way you're making the large leaf be a hill is a great and original idea. My only hope is that when placing the tree on top the leaf structure is still visible as a leaf and not just a random lump. Because it seems it could get a little muddled. I'm probably not really getting the image you have in your head soooo probably ignore me.
That is so cool. I love that the veins of the leaf will become the root! I know you're awesome at ceramics but Rose might be right, it could be easy to lose the shape of the leaf in the process. If I were you, I might curl the edges of the leaf outward and flat on the table so you can see the jagged edges and veins. It also might make the transition from vein to root more dynamic, but again, you have some awesome ceramics skills and I don't doubt that you can do this.
Wow that is a great concept! I really like how the leaf becomes into the roots of the tree. then the branches on the tree look awesome. this seems really hard to do, but i'm sure you got this.
